Rostrum Australia
Finding a contemporary voice for an organisation with over a century of stories.
Founded in 1923, Rostrum is the world’s longest-running public speaking organisation, helping people build confidence and communication skills in Australia through a national network of clubs.
As a Rostrum member, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to the organisation beyond my own club – helping evolve its visual communications and develop campaigns, programs and publications that introduce Rostrum to new audiences while respecting our rich history.

Evolving the Rostrum brand
Rostrum has a rich history and a strong sense of tradition. The challenge has been to build on that heritage while creating a more contemporary and flexible visual language for today’s audiences.
The identity has been extended across digital communications, social media, promotional campaigns and member materials, creating greater consistency while allowing individual programs and initiatives to develop their own character.
A new identity for Rostrum's national development program
Frontiers is Rostrum’s personal development program, designed to give members practical experience across a range of speaking and communication scenarios.
We developed a distinct identity for the program based around the idea of exploration and progression, with its three stages – Launchpad, Orbit and Galactic – forming the basis of the visual concept. The identity was then extended across program materials and promotional communications.
100 years of stories
To mark Rostrum’s centenary, I helped design Not to be Silent, an anthology bringing together stories, events and people from across the organisation’s first 100 years.
The publication needed to bring together a diverse archive of historical photographs, documents, illustrations and written contributions within a coherent contemporary design – celebrating Rostrum’s history while creating something members could keep and share.
Building confidence in the next generation of speakers
Rostrum Voice of Youth is a national public speaking competition for secondary school students, encouraging young people to develop confidence, articulate their ideas and communicate with an audience.
