Irish Support Victoria
An identity that honours the past and embraces the future.
Irish Support Victoria has been supporting Melbourne's Irish Australian community since 1968. Formerly known as the Irish Australian Support and Resource Bureau (IASRB), the organisation approached Citizen By Design to refresh an identity with a long history and strong connections to its community.
The challenge wasn't to start again, but to build on what was already familiar – retaining the character and recognition of the existing identity while improving its clarity, consistency and versatility.

The original identity featured a Celtic-inspired typeface and a collection of Irish and Australian symbols that had become familiar to the organisation's members.
Rather than replace these elements, the approach was to refine them. The typography was modernised for improved legibility, the Australian outline was simplified, and the existing symbols were brought together into a cleaner, more balanced identity.
During the process, the organisation also adopted a new name – Irish Support Victoria – creating an opportunity to introduce a clearer, more contemporary identity while maintaining a connection to its heritage.
A consistent identity across every touchpoint.
The refreshed identity was extended into a practical visual system, supported by brand guidelines, a new website, social media assets, event banners, stationery and building signage.
The result is a more consistent and recognisable presence across the organisation's digital communications, community events and physical home in Northcote.
A new chapter for an important community focused organisation, building on it’s identity and connections developed over many generations.
