Gaelic Games Australia
Branding sport, clubs and community.

Over the years I’ve worked with Gaelic Games organisations across Victoria, creating identities for governing bodies, clubs, competitions and community initiatives.

From a state sporting body to grassroots clubs and major tournaments, each project has required its own character while remaining connected to the traditions, energy and sense of community at the heart of Gaelic Games.

Gaelic Games Victoria
A new identity for the game in Victoria

Gaelic Games Victoria needed an identity that could represent Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football while presenting the organisation as a contemporary and professional sporting body.

The new identity brings the codes together within a single recognisable crest, creating a strong visual presence that works across digital communications, merchandise, apparel and competition environments.

The identity was recognised with an A’ Design Award

Young Melbourne
The next generation

Young Melbourne was established to give children from Irish and wider Australian backgrounds an opportunity to discover Gaelic Football and Hurling.

The identity needed to feel connected to Gaelic Games while being distinctly youthful, welcoming and Melbourne-based. The resulting brand has grown with the club across playing kits, merchandise, digital communications and its presence within the wider Melbourne sporting community.

Peninsula Harps
Identity on and off the field

Club identities have a particularly demanding job. They need to carry history and local pride while working everywhere from a social media avatar to a playing jersey.

My work with clubs including Peninsula Harps has involved developing and refining identities that retain their individual character while giving them a stronger, more contemporary presence on and off the field.

Pearses 7s
Branding Australia’s biggest GAA tournament

Pearses 7s brings Gaelic Games clubs from across Australia and New Zealand to Melbourne for a weekend of Football, Hurling and Camogie.

I developed the tournament identity and supporting visual communications, creating an energetic and recognisable event brand that could work across apparel, social media, promotion and the tournament environment itself.

The Noel Walsh Foundation
Creating an identity with story behind it

The Noel Walsh Foundation continues the legacy of a man who dedicated much of his life to Gaelic Games and believed strongly in greater equality, participation and innovation within the sport.

I developed an identity centred on Noel himself, using an illustrated portrait to create something personal and distinctive rather than a conventional sporting crest. The identity has since been applied across publications, apparel, equipment and the Foundation's activities.

Australasian Gaelic Games
Bringing the games together

The Australasian Gaelic Games bring together players and teams from across Australia and New Zealand for one of the biggest events on the Gaelic Games calendar.

I developed event communications and collateral for the Games, creating a distinctive visual treatment that brought the different codes, participating regions and Australian setting together across programmes, accreditation and event materials.

20+ years
Club & County
experience

My connection with Gaelic Games design goes back more than 20 years.

I began my design career in Omagh, Northern Ireland, working with Lairdesign – one of Ireland’s leading Gaelic sports design agencies – producing match programmes, publications and communications for clubs, counties and competitions.

That experience gave me an understanding of Gaelic Games that goes beyond simply designing for sport – a deeper understanding of its history, identity, rivalries, communities and the importance a club or county crest can carry.
